PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THE RULES AND THESE GUIDELINES BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRY
- The theme for the competition is open, there is no specific theme in 2025.
- Stories can be up to 1,000 words in any genre except erotica and horror.
- Flash fiction can be up to 250 words in any genre except erotica and horror.
- Poetry is up to 16 lines in length on any subject except erotica and horror.
- The cost of EACH entry is £5.
- Multiple submissions on a single order number will result in all entries being disqualified.
- Entries must include the title and the entry number. Please do not include any other details in your story file.
- The title of your entry is not included in the word count limit.
- Place your order through the shop and make a note of your order number.
- Save your file with the order number as the file name. For example, if your order number is 123, your file name should be 123.docx.
- You will receive a confirmation email, please send your entry via email to lph@crystalclearbooks.co.uk.
- Please save your story in one of the following formats only: DOC, DOCX, RTF, TXT. DO NOT submit entries in any other format as these will be disqualified.
- Entries must be unpublished and must not be under consideration in any other competition.
- Entries must be the author’s unique work and must not be AI generated, a translation, or interpretation, of any other work.
- The competition is open to any writer over the age of 18.
- Entries should be submitted in English only.
- Please do not include any personal details in the main body of your entry.
HOW TO ENTER HYSTERIA
- You may make multiple submissions but each entry must have a separate order number for the file name.
- Multiple submissions in a single file will be disqualified.
- Please place an order for your entry through the online shop. This will create an order number and capture your personal details so we can match them to your entry.
- Save your entry with the order number as the file name, for example 1234.docx.
- Entries can be made up to 11.59pm on 30th June 2025. Entries made after this time will not be considered.
- Confirmation of receipt of entry will be automatically generated by the system, please keep copies for your records.
- Hysteria cannot accept any alterations to stories once they have been submitted to the competition.
- The winners will be notified by email in September/October and announced on the website and mailing list in October. No discussion will be entered into and Hysteria cannot provide feedback on entries.
- Publication of the anthology Hysteria 11 will be in November.
- Copyright of all entries remains with the author, but the author agrees to give me non-exclusive worldwide rights to publish the winning stories in the anthology and on the Hysteria website.
- Winning authors will be required to submit one professional photograph and undertake an interview which will be published on this website.
- Copies of Hysteria 11 can be purchased through the website and other leading booksellers from November 2025.
